That way, when I DO get into painting, drawing, technique etc. I want you to have a basic understanding, if you didn’t have any before, of SAI’s main tools and brushes. These are, and of course were, just the basic brushes and tools for painting and drawing in SAI. Why did I hold off? Because have my own way of doing things goddamnit! But in all seriousness, I want and will get into such things, I first wanted to go over, and still do want to go over some other tools and brushes. Or was it written by a friend of hers? This is something that I, of course, very much agreed with her on, and I have been holding off on this until now. Well, I’m sure most of you, if not all, have already read this, written by my friend over at Photoshopfornoobs. This week Dave and I are covering the ‘Photoshop brush myth’ and why the various answers to this question never seem to be… If anyone can think of a better name, for the love of god please tell me because I suck at naming things. Welcome to the first edition of the Weekly Deconstruction. Uses “Watercolor” preset.Photoshop For Noobs: Weekly Deconstruction: "Which brushes do you use?" Why do we never get the same results as the pros? I like to use it to color skin and beard. This is a brush I use when I want the drawing to have a traditional watercolor feeling but it doesn’t quite ends up looking like traditional watercolor. Uses “Watercolor” preset.Ĭreates a dirty texture. I increase the Blending, Dilution and Persistence when using as blend tool.

Simple brush I use it for soft shading and blend tool.

I vary the Blending, Dilution and Persistence settings a lot when using it for scenery painting. I use it a lot for flat colors, lineart, cel shading and traditional-like painting. Useful for sketches and “sketchy” lineart.

This is more for my personal backup than to “share” them but feel free to try them if you want to! The handwritting on each image was made with the brush in question. I’m not sure how useful this might be, but I decided to upload my brushes settings for PaintTool SAI 2.
